How to use this calculator

Estimate regular and overtime pay from your own threshold, rate and multiplier. Use one workweek at a time. This is arithmetic, not a determination of your legal pay entitlement.

The calculation, explained

Extra hours are the amount above your entered weekly threshold. Regular pay uses the base hourly rate; overtime pay uses that rate multiplied by your selected multiplier. Each pay component is rounded to two decimal places, then added.

WORKED EXAMPLE

44 hours at 20 per hour, a 40-hour threshold and a 1.5× multiplier gives 800 in regular pay plus 120 in overtime pay, for 920 before any deductions.

Common questions

Is 40 hours the correct threshold everywhere?

No. Thresholds and eligibility depend on the applicable rules and employment arrangements. Enter the threshold that applies to your calculation.

Can I combine two weeks?

Calculate weeks separately. A 45-hour week and a 35-hour week contain 5 extra hours under a 40-hour weekly threshold, even though their combined total is 80.
