How to use this calculator
Enter one duration per line in hours:minutes format. A plus or minus at the beginning of a line adds or subtracts that duration. Hours may exceed 24.
The calculation, explained
Each duration is converted to minutes before addition or subtraction. The signed total is then converted back to hours and minutes. Minutes must be between 00 and 59; decimal-hour inputs belong in the converter.
23:30 + 2:45 equals 26 hours 15 minutes. Adding −0:30 then gives 25 hours 45 minutes. The total does not wrap around at midnight.
Common questions
How do I subtract time?
Start a line with a minus sign, for example −0:30. A negative overall total is allowed.
Can I enter decimal hours?
Use hours:minutes here. Convert decimal hours first: 1.5 hours is 1:30, not 1:50.
